Jan 2012 Ocotillo Wells

At the end of January, we took our first trip to Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area.  We brought our sand toys, but this area is more known for its rocky hills and rock crawling trails.  So we used mostly the Rzr to get around this area.  We had a ton of fun with the families that joined us.  Owen was given Buddy from his preschool for the weekend, so he was really excited to bring Buddy with us wherever we went!

Ready for our long family ride

First stop: The Pumpkin Patch

It's called that because the rocks in this area look like pumpkins!

In the background is The Salton Sea

We stopped at the Discovery Center.  Manned by the park rangers, this building provides info about Ocotillo Wells and examples of what you can find in the area.  Great place!

Last stop was Shell Reef (with Jake)

Trying to make it to the top

Wonderful view of the area

The kids brought this big rock back with us.  It has a ton of small seashells in it.  So cool!
