Owen turns 3!

There is so much development that happens between the age of 2 and 3. Owen has grown so much in the last year, it is just amazing. He went from not talking a lot to knowing so many words and numbers and colors! He was so excited to be turning 3 years old!

His first birthday celebration was at school. He celebrated it the day before his actual birthday and gave all of his friends some play-doh, a bouncy ball and a soccer yo-yo. They all sang to him and then his teacher went over some fun facts about Owen like his favorite color, food, and animal. It was a lot of fun and Owen had a big smile on his face the whole time!

The actual day of his birthday was pretty low key. We opened a few presents in the morning and stayed home so I could clean and get the house ready for his big party the next day.

Then on Saturday, we had some family and friends over. Owen was so excited that we were going to have a big party for him! He helped Justin put up two jumpers while I got the food ready that morning. We all had a great time! I would like to say thank you to Tita Penny for cooking her wonderful food and to my cousin, Johnrex for picking it up and bringing it to us.

Our Annual Pumpkin Patch Trip

We made our annual trip to Bates Nut Farm a few weeks ago. This is our new annual event that takes the place of going to Julian during the month of October. I still miss going to Julian and going apple picking and getting some fresh apple pies, but Bates Nut Farm is much closer to us and we figured the kids would love the pumpkin patch more. Bates isn't just a pumpkin patch, they also have tractor hay rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, and a store with lots of yummy foods to choose from! My brother and his family met us there and we had a lot of fun with them!

I loved seeing the different sizes of pumpkins that they grow. They also grow corn and a variety of different squashes:

Fun school events

As the first months of school pass, the fun events at school start. Owen's first event at school was Grandparents Day. Since we didn't have any grandparents available to attend this event, I attended it and represented for the Thompson Family. Usually the event involves having a picnic outside but the weather at the end of September was really hot! So they moved the event indoors and split us into two groups. One group did an art project and the other group played bingo. Then we all switched once we were done. After that we ate lunch and took home the surprise art project that the kids worked on in the morning. Owen and I had a lot of fun!

Savanna's first event of the season was Farm Day! It was an event just for the first graders. Each first grade class was set up with a different activity and they would rotate when they were done. Justin volunteered to help and had a lot of fun! Savanna's class was set up with farm bingo:
