Veteran's Day Parade

For Veteran's Day, Savanna marched in the city parade along with her Daisy Troop. The Daisy's are a division of The Girl Scouts and they are right below the Brownies. So for any of you who love Girl Scout cookies, Savanna will be selling them at the beginning of next year and would love your support. :) Owen, Gavin and I had a lot of fun watching the parade. Owen loved waving hi to everyone that passed by and he really loved seeing the big military vehicles drive by. I was honored to be surrounded by current and former military men and women. Savanna and her troop marched saying "We love our Vets!" It was a great parade.

At the end of the parade path was a large park filled with flags that honored past veterans. It was called The Field of Honor.

It was so beautiful:

Camping at Vail Lake

We took our toy hauler out for the first time to go camping a few weeks ago. We purchased our toy hauler a few months ago and we were excited to finally go somewhere and be able to enjoy it. It was just an overnight trip to a local lake near us. We thought we would be able to walk to the lake, but it was actually two miles down the road from us. Oh well, at least we had a great view of it from our site. The kids were super excited to make s'mores. Gavin did really well and slept a lot. We went on a few hikes around the resort, but once the sun went down it got pretty chilly out so we stuck inside or stayed near the fire.

Halloween!

I know it's been forever since I last posted. And I apologize. Can you forgive the cute little pumpkin? :) I couldn't find the cord to my camera. Thankfully Savanna found it for me. And now I owe her $5.00. I guess it's worth it though, right? :)

So catching up, our next event after Owen's birthday was Halloween. It started with Halloween activities at school. Owen got to wear his costume to school and they paraded around in their costumes. It was really cute. This year Owen decided to be a Motocross Rider. He looked so cute in his costume! He didn't want to wear his mask at school, but that really completes the costume. You'll see the complete ensemble as you keep reading...

Then Savanna had a festival at her school and she got to dress up for it! This year Savanna decided to be a Scary Bride. She even let me do her make-up to look scary. But somehow, Savanna always looks cute and not too scary. I took her to the festival and it was nice to have some Mommy/Daughter alone time with her since it's rare these days. We had fun going through the haunted library and playing the games.

Then the night before Halloween, we carved our pumpkins. This year, we decided to get 5 pumpkins. One for each of us, even Gavin! Savanna had a blast carving her pumpkin all by herself. She carved a heart into hers. I carved a "G" into Gavin's and Owen wanted a spooky ghost carved into his. Justin did his jack-o-lantern freehand and it came out great! It was fun carving pumpkins as a family!

So from left to right, there is my pumpkin, then Savanna's, Gavin's, Owen's and Justin's. Pretty good looking, huh?

Look who's eyes are still blue!

Excited to go trick-or-treating:

So you guys know how much Team Thompson loves Halloween, right? And how much Mr. Thompson loves to scare the kids when they come to our door no matter how old they are? Well this year, he even scared his own son into not wanting to come home. Poor Owen! He saw Justin from far away in his Scream costume doing his scary routine of creeping out the front door and pretending to hide, and it really scared the kid. I felt so bad. He didn't believe that the scary guy was his Dad. I had to yell to Justin from far away to take his mask off so that Owen would know it was him and wouldn't be scared. Owen didn't want to go home and he didn't want to go to any other houses because he thought they all looked scary in the dark. So we just let Savanna get most of the candy and we finally went home after he calmed down a bit. Once we were inside our house, Owen wasn't scared anymore. Overall, it was a fun night and we had a ton of candy leftover! Justin was afraid we would run out so he started giving out only one candy and then around 8:30pm it just died out and hardly anyone was around.

Can you see why Owen got so scared?
