Savanna's new Spring haircut!

Last Saturday, we decided to celebrate Spring by getting Savanna's hair cut! Well, actually, we had been talking about getting her hair cut for a while now and it just worked out that she got it done on the first day of spring! :) We wanted Savanna to have a shorter, easier 'do for her soccer games and I love, love, love the new length! As part of her cut, she got to have her hair washed at the salon for the first time! I think she was a little nervous about getting water in her face, because she HATES that, but she did just fine. Then she got braids complete with clips and flowers and glitter! Savanna had a smile on her face the whole time!

Big Soccer Day!

Today was Savanna's first soccer game and Justin's first time coaching a soccer game! Practice started only two weeks ago and we were all anxious to see how Savanna would do. She was pretty nervous when we first arrived because there were a lot of people there already watching games. But once her teammates got there and everyone got excited to play the game, she really got into it. Even one of her classmates was on the opposing team! She didn't start so she got a chance to see what it was going to be like first. When it was her turn to sub in, she started having so much fun and I actually heard her say halfway through the game, "I didn't think it was going to be this fun!" I was so happy to hear her say that and see her having a great time. At this age, they don't keep score, the focus is just to have fun and learn the techniques of the game. Each team scored a lot of goals and Owen and I had fun cheering the teams on.

Savanna is #5:

Student of the Month

On Tuesday, we attended an awards assembly at Savanna's school. We received prior notice that Savanna would be getting an award but my impression was that all of the kids were going to get an award. To our surprise, only a select few received an award and Savanna received Student of the Month for February! We're so proud of our outstanding student!

Her award was in the last category to be announced, so we were relieved to finally hear her name called by the assistant principal:

A baby is coming!!!

In less than 6 months from now, Team Thompson will have another member. I can't believe I'm going to be a mother of three! It just blows my mind. So many emotions go through me everyday from happiness to worrying to nervousness to how crazy our household is going to be. But I just remind myself to take a deep breath and try to enjoy this pregnancy because it's going to go by quickly!

I am 13 weeks pregnant and we had our first ultrasound on Tuesday. The first appointment for me always makes me nervous because I feel like I have to wait so long to make sure the baby is okay. But once the baby was on the screen moving around and we could hear that strong heartbeat, all that nervousness went away and I was reassured that the baby was just fine. During the first trimester, the only big symptom I had was exhaustion. I knew from the beginning I was pregnant because I was instantly tired and needed to take a nap to get through the day. My energy is slowly returning but I still have days where it's tough to get off the couch.

Below is an ultrasound pic and a belly shot that Savanna took last week:

Gramma visits

Last week, Justin's mom came out to visit us from Florida. The kids were so excited that she was finally coming! She was here for 5 days and it went by so quickly! Justin and I were able to go on date night since she was here and we also went to Costco all by ourselves! Thanks Mom! The kids miss her very much already and we're looking forward to her next visit.

On date night :)
It rained all day on Saturday so we let the kids play in the big puddle for a little bit:
