Welcome to the world Gavin!

We welcomed our son, Gavin Michael, into the world on Friday, August 20th at 6:47am!

Here's how it went that morning:

I got up at 3:15am to go to the bathroom because I felt something leaking and I woke Justin up and told him I think my water broke. He immediately got up and started getting ready but I told him maybe we should wait a little and call my dad first. So I called my dad and he answered and said he would be leaving shortly with my mom. I tried to sit for a little but the contractions started coming on and were in my back so I knew I was in labor. So Justin woke the kids and got them ready and got snacks and stuff to keep them occupied too. We left for the hospital around 4:15am and checked in and they put me in the triage room to make sure my water actually did break and the nurse checked me and I was at 4cm. She said she would come back in two hours to check me again since I told her it was back labor and she said normally that takes longer. In the back of my mind, I was thinking two hours? I'll be fully dilated by then! But maybe not since it was back labor, so all I did was watch the clock and the contractions were coming every 3 minutes and getting stronger. My parents arrived at 5:45am and shortly after that they took the kids back home so they could go back to sleep and I wouldn't stress out with them there. The nurse checked me around 6:15am and was surprised to find me fully dilated!!! There goes my chance for an epidural! I was actually debating on getting one because the back labor hurt really bad. So they rushed me to the room across the hall so that I could get prepped and start pushing. I pushed for about 20 minutes and Gavin came out at 6:47am!! I thought it would be easy to push him out like it was with Owen but since I was only 37 weeks and 3 days, it took some harder pushing to get him down the birth canal. I thought I was going to push forever and I was so tired! He came out crying and I was so happy to finally see him and meet him for the first time. He weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and was 19 1/4 inches long.

We went home on Saturday at 3pm and the kids are absolutely loving Gavin. Savanna gives him like a 100 kisses a day and can't stop talking about how cute he is. Owen has been really good with him, too and I'm really happy about that. Gavin had his first pediatrician appt the following Monday after his birth and only lost a total of 7 ounces! Recovery for me was a little tough in the beginning, but I started feeling so much better this past weekend. Watching Gavin as he sleeps on my chest is my favorite part of this newborn stage and I'm loving everyday of it.

Here are a bunch of pics of that wonderful day:

They were so sweet with Gavin. Owen kept asking if I still had a baby in my belly. He couldn't believe that Gavin was finally out:

Our Preschooler

Today was Owen's first day of preschool!! I was a little worried that he wasn't going to do well when we had to leave but he gave us a kiss and hug and went back to playing with his toys, so I was happy about that. We got a great report back that there was no crying at all from any of the kids so I was very proud that they all did so well! When we first got there, they already had an art project laid out on their desks to keep them occupied while the parents said their goodbyes. Very good idea on their part! Since the school is called Busy Bee, their first art project was to make bee hats! Owen looked so cute in his hat. I still can't believe my sweet boy is going to preschool already! I always say this, but where does the time go?!

We're so proud of him!

Belly Pic - 37 Weeks

So here I am today as I turn 37 weeks. The heat is starting to get to me and maybe I slept wrong last night, but it was a little hard to walk today due to pain in my pelvis. I saw the OB yesterday and am almost 3 cm dilated! YAY! Definitely progress from last week when I only measured 1 cm. So hopefully this baby will be out soon! :)

Our First Grader

Yesterday, Savanna started first grade! Our summer just flew by and now the focus is back to school. Savanna was very excited to go back to school, but of course, she was a little scared on her first day, too. She knew four other kids in her class and she quickly made new friends, too. When I picked Savanna up, she told me that her teacher is really funny and she thinks first grade is going to be a lot of fun!! I loved hearing that!

Here are a few pics from her first day:

So cute:

Oh and I forgot to post this at the end of last month, but Savanna finally lost her first tooth! This tooth was loose for almost two months before Savanna finally got it out. She was so scared pulling it out was going to hurt so she waited until it was just hanging there and one day she sneezed and out it came! :) Her adult tooth was already quickly growing behind it so we knew it needed to come out and we were so glad it did!
