We recently purchased an easel for Savanna since she absolutely loves to paint! It's her favorite thing to do at school. Justin gave her one of his old work shirts to use as a smock. She looks so cute painting in it! You can see the joy and focus in her eyes as she paints each stroke!

Yesterday Savanna went to a classmate's birthday party at a local indoor playplace. She had so much fun in the two hours that we were there. A few other classmates were there, too, so she was excited to see them all! We all had a great time and I know this makes her look forward to her birthday celebration in two months!

Today Savanna got to take pictures sitting on a pony at school! It was really cute! They got dressed up in chaps, a vest, and a cowboy hat!! After her pics, she got to go for a ride on another pony. Savanna wanted to take several rides on the pony after she was done, but she understood that the other kids had to take their turn. She thought it was a lot of fun!

Today we went to Seaport Village with our playgroup! It's an outdoor shopping area right along the water. It was such a beautiful day, the weather was perfect! The kids loved the carousel, it was the first thing we did when we got there. Then we just walked around and enjoyed the scenery. Savanna's favorite part was climbing and posing on this big tree which was the perfect picture opportunity! After walking we had lunch and then headed home. It was a fun day!

It's so hard to believe Owen is already 6 months old! My baby boy is growing up too fast! He is now eating solid foods and has had sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and bananas, along with his oatmeal in the morning that he loves. Owen can also sit up by himself for a few seconds before he topples over. But everyday he gets better at it and I think any day now he will be able to sit up unassisted. He has started babbling a lot and Justin swears he said "Dada" yesterday! I will have to try to get that on video when it happens again.

He's getting sooooo big!!!!
Diapers, that is! I've been thinking for a while that I want to switch from disposable diapers to cloth and yesterday we finally started!! I made the switch mostly to try to be more "green". I got really tired of throwing out trash bags filled to the brim with diapers and thinking of how long they just sit in a landfill. Plus it's much easier nowadays as compared to back when my mom used to do it. And it will save us money in the long run!! Owen looks really cute in his new cloth!

Today was Justin's birthday! Savanna, Owen and I met him at work and we all went out to lunch. We sat outside since it was so nice out! Then we walked around his office since a lot of people hadn't seen Owen yet. It was nice to see a lot of familiar faces again! Justin's boss told him to take the rest of the day off so that was a very pleasant surprise! We went to an early dinner and then did cake and presents when we got home. It was a great day! We love you Daddy and hope you enjoyed your birthday!

Yesterday we participated in the Carlsbad 5000. It's a 5K race and the beauty of it is that most of the course is along the coast. It was a little chilly in the morning, but the sun broke out and it turned into a beautiful day!! Justin decided to walk instead of run this time, so this was our first family race!! With all the stops to check on the kids, our race time took us 59 minutes. Savanna did really well. She wanted to get out a few times, but we just kept telling her we were almost at the finish line. Owen was a little cranky before the race started, but once we got moving he fell asleep.

We went to Julian today! It's a small town about an hour away that is known for their apple pie. After Savanna was born, we made it a tradition to go there every October since that's when the apples are at their peak. But last October I was too huge so we put it off. Plus I didn't want to go into labor there so we didn't take a chance! I'm really glad we went today! It wasn't busy at all and the weather was perfect! I was a little sad that they were all out of fresh cider until next season, but that's okay. We had lunch when we got there, and then walked around and looked in the little shops, and then picked up two pies! We all shared one slice of boysenberry apple pie with vanilla ice cream and it was soooooo yummy!! I can't wait to have more!
