Camping Trip #3

This past weekend we took our last camping trip before school starts.  We headed back down to Mission Bay and stayed at Mission Bay RV Resort.  It's literally right next to Campland on the Bay so it was nice to be back near the water and in the cooler weather again!  This resort doesn't have as many amenities as Campland but it wasn't as crowded and the spaces are much bigger which is nice.  We didn't have that cramped feeling here like we did at Campland.  We camped with three other families who we usually go to the desert with and two of them camped with us at Vail Lake so it's always fun camping with friends!

The first day we headed straight for the beach after we unpacked and got settled in. The kids played in the sand and water while we waited for our other friends to arrive. That was pretty much our whole weekend, we played in the sand and water and took a break to eat or for Gavin to take a nap and then it was back to the water again! After dinner we would walk around to see all the other nice expensive RVs and wish that one day we'll own something like that, haha!

Gotta love the beautiful weather and beaches in San Diego

 Our little water boy!

Trying to tire them out by running up and down the beach

And there you have it, I'm now up to date, woo hoo!!!  Coming up soon are first day of school and Gavin's 2nd birthday!  Stay tuned!

July 2012: Camping Trip #2

Our second camping trip came the weekend after our first trip!  Talk about back-to-back camping!  On this trip we went to Vail Lake up in Temecula.  We have camped there before and we thought why not do it again?  It's nice and close to us, only about a twenty minute drive.  We camped with both family and friends this time.  My brother and two cousins and their families joined us along with four other families so it was quite a big group. I really miss the big family group camping that all of my cousins used to do.  I hope we can pick that up again sometime.  I miss all of us getting together.

I forgot to take pics for most of the weekend and of course pulled the camera out on the last day.  But for most of the weekend, we were at the pool.  Vail Lake has three pools, one of them being a great kids pool that is only 1-2 feet deep!  We hung out there since it was so hot that weekend.  We also brought the Razor since there are trails behind the resort that we can ride along to access the lake.  The kids loved going on Razor rides.  My brother and cousin took some of the kids to the lake to go fishing and Keira even caught a fish!

Heading to the lake on our last Razor ride

I would love to be able to camp on the lake next time, but don't know if you have to be a member to do that.

Loved these dinosaur statues at the top of one of the hills surrounding the lake

All the kids in the family with some Mommies, too

June 2012: Camping Trip #1

We took a total of three camping trips this summer.  Not that summer is over for us already, but since school is starting tomorrow, we don't have any other camping trips planned and probably won't be camping again until desert season starts up.

Our first camping trip was to San Diego's Mission Bay.  We stayed at Campland on the Bay.  It was pretty crowded but we did happen to go there the weekend before the 4th of July.  We still had a great time though!  We camped with three other families that we usually go to the desert with.  Campland has great amenities.  Aside from being right on the bay, they also have a great kids playground, two pools, a restaurant, store and lots of events planned everyday.

The kids loved playing in the water.  Gavin has become quite the little water fanatic this summer.  He just loves being in the "wa-wa" as he calls it!  Whether it's the beach, the sprinklers, a pool, it doesn't matter as long as there's water he's happy.

Savanna has been practicing going under the water and she is getting better! Yay! Now I just need to get them all in some lessons!

June 2012: Happy 8th Birthday Savanna!

On June 23, 2012, we celebrated Savanna's 8th birthday party by renting a waterslide and having a fun birthday bash!  Savanna invited a few of her friends and of course, family and we all had a ton of fun in the sun!

With the help of Pinterest, I started gathering ideas early on of what kind of decorations I wanted to do.  And with the help of my cousin, Carolyn, we started decorating a week before so I wouldn't be stressed out by doing it all at the last minute!  It all turned out great and even Justin commented how well the whole party went and he said I did a great job!  I'm not an expert at planning parties but that made me feel great!

Here are the pics:

This was my first Pinterest inspired decoration: a grapevine wreath covered in umbrella picks. I love the way it turned out!

The party favors were personalized beach buckets with an assortment of candy and water toys inside. I also had the guests sign a beach ball as Savanna's souvenir from her party.

This was the backdrop that Carolyn and I came up with so Savanna could pose with her guests and then I printed out the pics for use in the craft that I actually didn't get a picture of.  Oops!

I love the way this banner came out, of course my inspiration came from Pinterest.  It was made with my Cricut Expression. I love it when I get use of that thing!

All the yummy food.  I found a great chocolate chip cookie dough dip on Pinterest and it was a hit!  So good!

 Fun in the Sun!

Cupcake time!  Another Pinterest find was the cupcake decor.  Blue frosting to resemble water and crushed cookies to resemble sand.  Stick an umbrella in it and you have the beach!

Our first game was the water balloon toss.  Justin headed this up in the front yard.

Here is Owen posing with the birthday girl, so cute.

Our next game was a watermelon eating contest.  It was so fun to watch them do this!

And the winner was Lyla!  Great job!

June 2012: Owen's Preschool Graduation

I can't believe school starts tomorrow.  I will have two kids in elementary school!  Wow!

Well before school starts, I figured I would post about Owen's preschool graduation and try to get this blog up to date!  There are a few summer events that I will post about following this and then hopefully I will be done with being behind all the time.

Back in June, we attended Owen's preschool graduation.  Savanna was already out of school so she was lucky to be able to attend too!  We were so proud of all of the kids and their performances.  They sang quite a few songs and they all did so well!  Of course I got teary eyed through the whole thing, especially when the teachers talked about the kids and how much they would miss them.  Owen's preschool was such a great find and I am so thankful to Busy Bee for everything they have done for Owen.  We look forward to next year when Gavin will start there!

Here are some pics from the exciting day:

With his teacher, Ms. Angie who presented him with his diploma

With the owner/director of Busy Bee and also his teacher last year, Ms. Heather (we love her!)

Every graduate also received an award.  Owen's award was "Most Easy Going."
