Class of 2009

Yesterday was Savanna's graduation from preschool. It was an emotional ceremony for me, but the 60 kids that graduated had a lot of fun! They sang five songs and before the last song, every student was called up to receive their diploma. The first song that they sang was the Pledge of Allegiance song and it made the teachers cry too, so it wasn't just me! Savanna went to this school for two years and had the same teachers both years, so we all grew pretty attached to each other and saying goodbye was hard. I will always remember them, they taught Savanna the fundamental basics and for that, I will always appreciate everything they did for her. She has always looked up to them and I know she loved them very much! We will miss you Mrs. Barnes and Mrs. Trujillo!

Father's Day Fun at the Fair

To celebrate Father's Day and Savanna's birthday, we went to the fair! It's an annual tradition for us and something I really look forward to every year. In fact, this year, I bought the season pass so I could go as much as I want to! I figured since the kids are free, I might as well! It's been well worth it since I've been twice already and I'm going again tomorrow night! We love to walk around and see the different vendors and the new kinds of food they have every year. Savanna loves to go on all the kiddie rides and I'm sure Owen can't wait until he can ride them too!

When we got there we decided to watch some Red Bull X Fighters freestyle motocross. They were awesome. Savanna and Owen both loved it:

Then we headed to Kiddieland so Savanna could enjoy some rides. Justin and I had fun taking turns riding on some of them with her. It was so great to see that big smile on her face as she was having so much fun:

Happy 5th Birthday Savanna!

Yesterday, Savanna turned 5 years old! I really can't believe she's 5 already! She'll be graduating from preschool this week and heading off to kindergarten in August. We celebrated her birthday on Saturday with a big party at our house and most of her classmates attended! She was so excited when people started arriving and kept looking out the front door to see who else was coming! Since we were expecting a lot of kids, we decided to put up two jumpers (and we're so happy we can do that now that we own them) and it worked out really well but took up most of our backyard. The kids had a blast and made a lot of noise! Luckily the party was only three hours though so I don't think the neighbors minded too much, I hope!

These first two pics are from Friday. In honor of Father's Day, Savanna's school held "Donuts for Daddies" and Justin was able to come with us in the morning and have a little breakfast with Savanna. They also celebrated Savanna's birthday in class on Friday and I made cupcakes for everyone.

Wedding weekend

Last weekend, my cousin, Carolyn got married! Savanna and I had the honor of being in the wedding. While Savanna and I were getting our hair done on Saturday morning, Justin and Owen joined my brother and his family at the Griffith Observatory. They really enjoyed going there. I wish I could have gone because I haven't been there in a really long time! Justin also got to see the Hollywood sign for the first time!


The wedding itself was beautiful. It was a very emotional day for me. Carolyn is the youngest girl out of all of my cousins and we always protected her and made sure no one hurt her. She lived with us for almost a year when we first moved into our house. Watching her three big brothers and her Mom give her away at the ceremony was so touching! It still brings tears to my eyes when I think about it. Carolyn was absolutely stunning in her wedding dress and Ryan looked very handsome. Everything turned out so nicely and they did such a great job! We loved every minute of it!
