Happy Halloween!

Well Halloween is finally here and Savanna was so excited to go trick-or-treating tonight! Our neighbors had a little halloween party before sunset so we all fueled up for a night of walking and enjoyed some yummy food and treats. Owen took a really long afternoon nap so I decided to bring him along with us to go trick-or-treating. He did really well and enjoyed riding along in the stroller and seeing all the other kids dressed up in their costumes! Justin stayed home to pass out candy and scare the kids in his spooky mask. He said a lot of people skipped our house because they thought it was too scary! And that was before he even opened the door! I thought that was so funny! But unfortunately he made five kids cry, poor kids! I hope they're not scarred for life and they come back next year!

Here are pics from our fun night:

Getting ready for Halloween

Tonight we finished putting the last of our decorations out in the front yard and we also carved our pumpkin!! We decided we wanted our house to look spooky this year and I think we achieved it! We have a graveyard theme with a big spooky skeleton holding up a sign that says, "Beware! Enter at your own risk!" We also have a big spider climbing on a web and a skeleton sticking out of the grass. I really love the way our house turned out! I think it's the best in the neighborhood (in my humble opinion). Savanna is so excited to go trick-or-treating tomorrow night!

I think it came out pretty well:

Can you tell we LOVE Halloween?

Halloween Parade

Today Savanna got to dress up in her costume at school! It was parade day for her class, which means that everyone in her class got to dress up and parade around to the other classes and get treats from the other teachers! They all had so much fun marching around! Then they had a potluck lunch and enjoyed all the sweets. Owen loved watching his big sister and enjoyed the food, too!

Wacky Hair Day

Yesterday, Savanna had wacky hair day/wear your favorite halloween shirt at school. Now I know I wanted to do her hair, but I wasn't quite sure how to make it wacky. So since we didn't have a lot of time in the morning, I just did a bunch of twists and looped them and secured them with butterfly and dragonfly clips. It came out really cute! Not exactly wacky, but I liked it and it stayed!

Here she is with her princess pirate shirt:

Pumpkin Patch Fun!

Today we went to the pumpkin patch! We met up with two of Savanna's friends from school and their families. It was pretty busy there being that it's the last weekend before Halloween but we still had a great time! First, Savanna passed out the caramel apples that we made this morning to her friends and they ate them up! Then they decided to ride the ponies, jump in a huge jumper, ride a strawberry-go-round, and then ride on a helicopter. Owen had fun watching his big sister with her friends and all the people walking around. They were both so tired when we got home! What a fun day!

Justin rode on the strawberry with the girls:

Swim Lessons

Today, Owen started taking swimming lessons! I got a super great discounted rate and couldn't pass up the opportunity! We were all really excited to see how well Owen would do and once he got into the pool with Justin and had a big smile on his face, we knew he was going to enjoy it. The teacher was great. They sang songs and played with water toys while getting more accustomed to being in the water and in different positions. I'm sure it helped that the water was nice and warm too! We're looking forward to seeing how Owen progresses!

Family Trip to Julian

Yesterday, we took our annual family trip to Julian! We love going to Julian, especially in October, when the apples are so fresh and ripe for the picking! When we got there, it was lunchtime so we ate first. Then we walked around and made sure to pick up some fresh apple cider and of course, some apple pie or should I say pies! We bought four pies, three of which were for other people! Then it was time to go apple picking! We found a new orchard to go to this year and loved it there! They had dwarf trees which were the perfect size so Savanna could reach and pick all the apples that she wanted. The apples were also smaller too but they were still really sweet! We had so much fun! I can't wait until next year!

During lunchtime:

Going to pick apples (as you can see, Owen was very tired and cranky and didn't want to be in his stroller):

So many apples to choose from:

This is a great picture to show how small the apples were:
