Turkey Day

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had a little get together/potluck with family at our house and I was excited to try a new turkey recipe that I found in the paper! Let me tell you, this turkey came out delicious and it was done in only 90 minutes! I was shocked too! I kept looking at the meat thermometer wondering if I was reading it correctly! But yes, this 14 lb. turkey was done. And the house sure smelled good! I think I will use this recipe from now on. Everything was so good! I wish Thanksgiving was more than once a year. I just love turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy and cranberries. Such a good combination. I just love food too much. Okay that's enough of me talking about food.

Here are a few pics from our potluck:

Our New Home

So here is a picture of our new house. Sorry I won't be posting pics of the inside for a while, it's quite a mess still. I have many projects on my to-do list and hopefully I'll be getting to those soon.

Halloween

Even though we moved into our house one week before Halloween, we still had to make sure we put up our decorations! We love halloween at our house and this year Savanna was a Vampiretta and Owen was a Turtle. Our friends brought their kids over to go trick-or-treating with us and we all had a blast! There were some scary houses on our street and I think it's great that they get into the spirit too. We loved walking around to get candy and seeing all the scary houses.

The night before we carved our pumpkins. Savanna helped me carve hers and she did an awesome job! Her pumpkin was the cat:

Trick-or-Treat:

Savanna's 1st Kindergarten Field Trip

Savanna's kindergarten class got to take a field trip to the local pumpkin patch. It wasn't the same pumpkin patch we went to a few weeks ago. This was a smaller one in the middle of Temecula Wine Country! It was cute and the kids had a great time. They even got to pick a small pumpkin to take home with them. Savanna was very excited, especially because she got to ride the bus! Owen was able to go too, and he had no fear when it came to the petting zoo! He loved feeding the goats and chasing the chickens.

Owen's 2nd Birthday

These are pics taken on the day of Owen's 2nd Birthday. While we waited for Savanna to get out of school, we took Owen to a small lake to feed the ducks and play on the playground. He loves feeding the ducks!

The morning of, my cousin (who we were living with) and his family decided to surprise Owen and decorate his highchair with balloons and a cute Thomas the Train balloon! Owen loves his choo-choo!

Opening up some presents from them:

Owen also loves the trash truck (as he calls it). They come by very early and Owen always wakes up as he hears them coming down the street and he loves watching the blinking lights and hearing the beeping noise. We bought him a toy trash truck for his birthday and he plays with it while he watches the real one outside. Here he is waving to one as it goes by:

Doesn't he look so big in this picture?

The weekend before his birthday, when we all went to the pumpkin patch, we decided to celebrate Owen's birthday and have a little bbq and cake for him since all of our family was together. Here are pics from then:

Thanks to Uncle Rome for baking the cake:

My cousin's family also gave Owen a nice, big Thomas the Train set and Owen just loves playing with it. They're so good to us!

Bates Nut Farm

So instead of our yearly trip to Julian where we usually pick apples and enjoy the little town and the apple pie that I love so much, this year we decided to visit Bates Nut Farm. I have always heard such wonderful things about this place and I'm so glad we took a trip there! During the month of October, they have a huge pumpkin patch where they sell pumpkins that are grown there! They also have a great store that sells yummy treats and a fun tractor ride that Owen loved!

We look forward to making this an annual family event!
